Lettuce Begin

I love pondering the deep philosophical issues of our day. For example, what if the government began mandating that all children born in the U.S. after 2011, had to be named after either a vegetable or fruit? I hate to start a fruit frenzy, but I already have dibs on several fruits and vegetables for future use of my future grandchildren and great grandchildren. I have also registered other names that I hope to eventually sell to celebrities.
You can go to www.rhubarb-radish-rutabaga.com to register your own names. Just so you know and won't be disappointed, these are the names I have already secured.
For My Personal Use
Celery is my first name choice for a girl.
My second choice for a girl is Broccoli.
Leek is my top pick for a boy.
Shallot is second in line for a boy.
In case I have a great granddaughter born below the Mason/Dixon line, I have registered Aubergene (egg plant).
For those that are looking for the vegetable equivalent to Billy Bob or Tubba Bubba, I have already locked up Corn-On-Cob.
If I have a great grandson that is destined to be a college football coach, I reserved Mango.
I also reserved Chard and Cress as bi-gender names. They work well with either boys or girls. They could also serve nicely for twins.
Celebrity Grandkids
If Oprah Winfrey ever produces progeny, she can have her first granddaughter named after her...Okra Winfrey.
For Tom Cruise, I have already locked down tight Tomatillo Cruise.
For Jay Leno and his potential grandson, what about Lentil Leno?
If you can cast a blind eye to our cultural bias towards names and take taste out of the loop, there are many names of fruits and vegetables that actually are quite lyrical.
If you have any picks for names from the fv list, let me know.

Thru the lens and life of HB

I'm an apprentice senior citizen who can't wait for my old-man discounts to kick in. At one time, HB stood for Healthy Baby, Hunky Body, Happy Bridegroom, HouseBroken and Half-Baked. My current HB status is Has-Been. A few more Happy Birthdays and Hardly Breathing can't be too far away. Then, hopefully it will be Heaven Bound. I will keep you posted.
